Finding flow, breaking flow

This workshop is based on Vasiliki’s personal practice, developed through her research into creaturely and animalistic movements. The practice emphasizes the interplay between fluid and isolated movement, as well as the release and control of the body. Its core concept is that in order to disrupt the flow of our movements, we must first find and understand it in depth.

The workshop begins with a flow warm-up focused on deepening our connection to the body and enhancing awareness. By tuning into the inner workings of our physicality - bones, muscles, fluids, and organs - we develop a heightened sensitivity to every molecule within. The practice then expands to include less consciously controlled parts of the body, such as the eyes and hair, allowing for a richer exploration of movement possibilities and flow.

Participants will then engage in a series of improvisational tasks and creative movement scores that challenge them to practice isolation, muscular tension, and precision in movement. Through these exercises, we will explore sharp and fragmented movements, honing the ability to allow the body flow freely while also creating moments of disruption within that flow.

The class may conclude with a short movement sequence, but the approach remains rooted in improvisation, offering participants the freedom to explore and experiment with movement in a personal and creative way.
