we hope this helps
Premiere 7.6.2024, LOFFT - DAS THEATER
What makes us human is the ability to experience and intuitively respond to the moment. How can dance make this unique aspect of being human tangible?
The dance piece by Ildikó Tóth and Jone San Martín explores what distinguishes human experience and understanding. Starting from the increasing significance of artificial intelligence, the focus here is on intuition, empathy, and interaction - essential dimensions of human existence. The artists involved in dance, music, architecture, sound, and light design create a temporary and vibrant space of community through the means of improvisation. The performance unfolds in the moment of encounter between the performers, the stage, and the audience. The shared emotional, cognitive, sensory, and physical experiences, as well as their individual interpretations, shape the course of the performance and are simultaneously its theme. "We will not tell you what to think or what all of this could mean. We hope this helps." Both Ildikó Tóth and Jone San Martín danced with The Forsythe Company in Frankfurt under the direction of William Forsythe until 2015. Since then, while Ildikó Tóth has been involved as a dancer, choreographer, and dance lecturer in projects between New York and Leipzig, Jone San Martín is a member of the Dance On Ensemble and also choreographs his own works.
